Widely considered one of the finest resident bands on the island. Siluet band has finally put their flag up at The Wave, as the venue’s regular performers. Their skills in performing the latest top 40 sounds are undisputed. Everything from the classic “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure to “I Don’t Love You” by My Chemical Romance is well within their range. Catch Siluet at The Wave in Kuta doing their thing from Thursday through Saturday each and every week.

One of the leading producers of quality underwear: 69Slam put their newest range of lingerie on the bodies of International models at MBarGo. Strutting their stuff the bar, the skimpily clad ladies had jaws dropping as always. Things climaxed with the girls tossing giveaways into the crowd. DJ Ye kept things bumping with his RnB and Hip Hop blends.

Streets of seminyak ; Jalan Laksmana

Jalan Laksmana has to be the most mixed up street in history. It started as Oberoi Road, changed to Jalan Lesmana, then Laksmana and somewhere in between became Eats Street. Eats Street sounds so clichéd - we’ll just stick with Jalan Laksmana.

As everyone knows there are loads of restaurants down that popular road, but that’s not all, great shops are springing up all over the place and if you are looking for real estate, it’s a one stop shop. Come and join the beat for a trip to our old haunting grounds, Laksmana Street.

For the uninitiated - You can find all sorts of dining options on Jalan Laksmana. Italian, Moroccan, American, European, Mediterranean, Japanese, Korean, Greek, Indonesian - Healthy, Greasy, Light and Heavy, it’s all there and there’s no doubt about it, it just keeps on getting better.

I remember Cameron from La Zumba Café saying a few years ago, “I wish there were brand name shops down this street.” He got his wish – kinda. Paul Ropp’s boutique started the shift to designer clothing shops and the road hasn’t looked back. By The Sea, Lilly Jean, Morena, Zakz and many other local brand names have set up their retail outlets and have brought the level up a few large notches in recent times. There are also a few new home wares stores sprouting up.
From the café spots at the beginning of Jalan Laksmana the level rises slowly but surely till the beach end where the culinary and wallet factor starts to record massive heights on the F&B Richter Scale. By the time you’ve made it to the beach side, the style and cool of Seminyak can be found in all its glory. Once you’ve been to Kudeta, The Legian and on The Samaya’s Breeze restaurants, the ocean views and the haute cuisine would have successfully knocked your proverbial socks off.

If you haven’t had enough and it’s way past your bedtime the last snack can always be found back in the middle of it all – 24 hour dining at Soho and Circle K.

And just to make sure you have got somewhere to lay your head, there’s plenty of villa complexes right by the side of the road – from one end to the other…

Jalan Laksmana used to be rice field paddies not long ago. It was like the access road to the Oberoi Hotel for many years. How things are changing in this town..

Bali Nightlife ; Cafe Wayang Lumbung Amal

Not just another regular gig by OZ radio at Wayang Cafe but this time they had a slightly different format than the usual and a good one at that. Crowds were coming with their piles of used clothing to be donated and to listen to the bands. Inside the venue where Denpasar youngsters could enjoy cold beers and performances on stage by Psycho Saint, Tissue, Koma and Boys Don’t Cry, also OZ radio staff walked around with a donation box. 360 thousand rupiah was collected with stacks of used clothing. The very next day the clothing was all distributed straight to three orphanages and one old people’s home in Denpasar. A big hearted movement and lots of gyrations on the Wayang dance floor.

Bali Nightlife ; Kamasutra - Project Pop

The place wasn’t full, but enough to keep the heat on. Starting up with the famous “Tu Wa Ga Pat” (One Two Three Four), we thought they were going for another round of songs, but we were wrong, that was more of a musical comedy of Mama Mia Show parody. Funny enough to keep us laughing for more than half an hour. Then the show went on with their other must-sing-and-dance-along songs such as “Pacarku Superstar” (My girlfriend is a superstar), “Dugem VS Metal” (Disco VS Metal), and of course, the one that keeps us shaking our booty, “Dangdut is the Music of My Country”.

Bali Nightlife Pacha - Global Room

To break the silence in Kuta lately, Pacha brought down one of Indonesia’s best DJs to their turf. That’s right…DJ Ade, who has now joined Spinach Management to spin some of his trademark progressive techno tunes with some visual from the in house VJ from Pacha Bali. The dance floor was packed with fans of the DJ.

Bali Nightlife Kuta Party Time

Here we go: it took a struggle for me to pass the Poppies Lane 2, super clogged traffic jam but I made it, the newly facelifted Tubes Club was my first stop. The X-Cutioners gig where the line up of DJs from Danny Dee and Leon spin their collection from RnB and end up in Electro land pulled a huge crowd. Next destination was M Bar Go where they had a hard hitting gig by the name of Bedroom Antics where girls in lingerie, babydoll sleeping dresses, teddy bears and fluffy slippers. The girls were walking around and stepped up to the bar for a dancing frenzy while freeflow Bintang and Daquiris stayed faithful by my side. My head was starting to spin, and My Room at Jalan Legian beckoned, it opened its doors for the first time that night, and the fashion show and live DJ was on the menu for the night. Phew! One wild night, in the heart of Kuta town.

Rumour has it…

Rumours keeps on kickin’ as another year passes by. With another Gala night performance, the style of which helped to make them just as famous as their cheaper than cheap, quality food, Paulus and the crew led the charge for another free-beer fueled, free-wheeling charged evening of giveaway prizes and sixties, hippy music. Supplied by DJ Goldigger. All the usual suspects were in attendance. Not a bad show for a smallish Laksmana restaurant – we’re not sure why no-one else steps up to the plate down there. Any ideas?

Day Dream Gathering

It was a night dedicated to the media and friends. New club on the block, Day Dream, launched and gathered the who’s who in town to introduce their new premises. Nice set up and pretty busy. Beer, punch, canapés, percussions and DJ Nason’s lounge tunes for the fashion show. They plan on having these gigs every month.

Hook 1st Anniversary

DJ Alfan and Fadi supplied the vibes at Hook’s 1st Anniversary while the free flow demolished the mostly Aussie crowd. Streetwalkers and fire dancers charged up the night with their outlandish antics. Hook keeps on pulling them in.

Kama Sutra ; Dewi Dewi

The goddesses are stepping down from heavens... Dewi Dewi made their first ever performance on this little piece of paradise at Kama Sutra. Purie, Tata and Ina who were handpicked by the fearless hand of Ahmad Dhani from DEWA (locals uber group) didn’t manage heat up the venue at all. Performing the recycled songs of DEWA 19 such as “Roman Picisan” (Cheesy Romance) to a cover song of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock’n’Roll” and their hit “Dokter Cinta” (Doctor Love) in a speedy, less than an hour performance. Well…forty minutes straight to be exact. Bit of a whirlwind performance, you could say, but definitely had the camera phones charging, as you see in these photos.
