Hard Rock Cafe - Netral

Netral have been around and kicking hard on the Indonesian alternative music scene for thirteen years now, with no less than nine albums under their belts. Netral are Bagus (bass/vocal), Eno (drum) and Coki (guitar) and 13 years in the game have robbed them of none of their energy. The band blew the roof off with a set to please all comers from psychobilly rockers, to emo brothers to old skool punkrockers, all gathering together simply to pogo dance to Netral’s own punk version of national anthem “17 Agustus”, their classic track “Cahaya Bulan” (Moonlight) and their newest “Pertempuran Hati” (Hearts Struggle). Hard Rock CafĂ© looked like a prairie that had just been ambushed by a flock of trigger happy bison!

The Wave - Chainbreaking Bulldozer

A massive event strictly for the hardcore, with Australian band Last Warning headlining as part of their “Chainbreaking Bulldozer” SE Asia promo tour. Jakarta Painkiller was a stand, with Tasha’s guttaral scream putting her predecessor’s attempted devil howls into the shade. Dji Hard and Suicidal Sinatra both set the scene. Last warning got the mosh pit moshing with the shoulder length hair doing 360’s everywhere you looked. Heavy.

Sentosa Club ; The Yak Magazine Party

Our esteemed colleagues at The Yak/The Bud pulled out the stops on June 29 for the third annual Yak Awards party. Bali’s social sets were out in force, all converging on the Sentosa Club where the early birds enjoyed oysters and champagne while DJs and live bands performed. There was an impressive light set up and the awards generated some excitement, but the piece de resistance had to be the ice sculpture, where chi chi guests got slowly sizzled on ultra chilled vodka.
